Halloween or Holier than Thou?
I just love the Halloween arguments, they show so much Christian love and unity amongst the bretheren....*cough* ..actually....not....really...*cough*
You know what's great? I have convictions. You have convictions. That's wonderful. It shows we're utilizing our God-given brain power to examine and interpret God's Holy Scriptures for ourselves! Yay! HOWEVER....let's remember that convictions are not meant to be an easily changed thing...that's why they're CONVICTIONS. If you're truly *convicted* by the Holy Spirit about something, it's pretty much a done deal. You aren't going to be changing your mind back and forth based on someone else's well-organized argument. You're going to stick with your convictions, pretty much to the death. Duh.
OH! And by the way, lest we are tempted to forget....YOU are not the Holy Spirit, and I am certainly not the Holy Spirit. Haha, just in case a few of you got carried away and forgot...God's Holy Spirit and ONLY His Holy Spirit is able to change someone's heart and convictions. That's His own personal, reserved right. So let's stop trying to do His job for Him, shall we?
Or, you know, you could always just argue till you're blue in the face and have a cramp in your hands from your furiously fast typing in order to shoot back a retort to that last ridiculous comment from so-and so, and then end up rashly deciding to unfriend a few people. That works too.
Happy Reformation Day/Halloween/Harvest/Festival-of-Chaos-and-Candy-and-Costumes-and-Confusion-over-what-exactly-the-point-of-this-Celebration-is!? ;) Just eat candy and be happy, ok? Or don't eat candy(eh, more for me). Most importantly, love one another, and remember that while man only looks at the outward appearance, the Lord looks at the heart! What is in your heart?
I wonder if there are any conflicting convictions about pizza...
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Tis a valid wonderance. <--- I just made that word up. ;) And now I'm hungry for pizza.
DeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteHey! Former Air Force brat here (no hard feelings, ok? :-) I just hopped over from the Cp Navigate community and thought I'd say hello. :-) And that I'm kinda jealous that you've been all over the world. We were stationed in Panama but that was it. Then my Dad got out for health reasons. So now we live in the midwest.
Anyway, thank for your nice comment. I look forward to seeing your further landmarks and posts!
Thanks Joanna!
DeleteAF brat, huh? Certainly no hard feelings whatsoever! ;) Actually, before my father was stationed in Korea for a year, he was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, here in Sumter, SC. We're still living here, while he's in Korea till next October. Some of my best friends lately have been Air Force brats! :)
Aww haha, well I've never been to Panama! What's it like there? Who knows, maybe God will grant you the opportunity to do some world travel sometime in the future! It's nice to meet people who understand my desire to travel :)I have met people who really and truly were perfectly happy with the thought of never leaving the country, and it makes me a little sad!
How are you liking CP so far? I'm enjoying it! I just started last month. I really appreciate the flexibility of being able to keep my normal schedule and still get my college work done!
You're quite welcome, I sincerely meant it! And I look forward to reading your future Navigate posts as well. :)
